Open Enrollment Tip #3: Psst, buddy, can you spare a dime?

Open Enrollment starts on November 1, 2017. Paying for health insurance may feel like you need to dig under the couch cushions for spare change.

TIP #3: Start thinking about your household income now.

  • Check your total income on the My Household tab on WAHealthPlanFinder.org

  • The total income should include the gross wages for everyone in your household after any eligible deductions (student loan interest is a common deduction)

If your income is inaccurate, or if it will change in 2018, please carefully consider when you will report the change.

  • The Exchange requests that you report any income changes of more than $150 per month that will last more than two months.

  • If you are self-employed it may be tough to figure out your income. You can deduct business expenses, and I recommend that you use your average income from the last 3-6 months.

  • If you report a change in income prior to November 15, it may impact your tax credits for December 2017.

Tip Reminders:

1. Logon to WAHealthPlanFinder.org and verify your user name and password

2. Verify your personal contact information is up to date on the My Profile tab

3. Start thinking about your household income now.
